Emphasis is placed on individual evaluation of each participant’s skills through participation in simulations, videotaping of participants’ performance, self-evaluation and group discussion and feedback. More than just exploring cultural differences, the workshop examines how awareness and sensitivity to cultural differences can and should inform our approach to all business communication. This workshop is designed as a hands-on practical skill building training in professional communication development. Effective communication is at the heart of positive working relationships and conflict management. Jones This experiential workshop focuses on learning about the mental barriers and pitfalls that impede effective analysis, while acquiring new skills and techniques to overcome them. Emphasis is placed on learning fresh ways to analyze problems by breaking apart the constituent elements of a project and looking for alternative solutions. Participants will apply ten powerful techniques for problem solving that enable them to discover the immense potential in opening up the problem to new ways of thinking. (1-2 days)


Mediation is a process where parties employ a neutral individual to assist them in resolving a dispute or in reaching a negotiated agreement. The program can be tailored to satisfy the statutory requirement to serve as a mediator in most states. Participants will learn a step-by-step approach to assist parties in managing and resolving their differences. Specifically, the program teaches strategies and techniques for (1) preparing for a mediation, (2) maintaining a favorable climate among the parties, (3) diagnosing the causes of conflict and formulating appropriate remedies, (4) managing the mediation process, (5) assisting the communication process, and (6) encouraging settlement of the dispute or consensus for an agreement. The Program provides appropriate opportunities for professionals to participate in simulated mediation exercises where they make practical use of their newly acquired knowledge and hone mediation skills that will be applied in the workplace.
