Leading Through Transitions

Organizations in today’s dynamic marketplace often find themselves challenged to adapt to significant structural changes in the form of mergers, acquisitions, downsizing, reorganizations or considerable changes in business processes. Frequently, organizations involved in important change events such as these underestimate the magnitude of the impact the change will have on its employees, and consequently its business as a whole. Effective transition management helps avoid serious human resource problems such as low morale, anger, resentment and insecurity, which can breed tangible business losses in the form of low productivity or unwanted attrition among valuable employees. When change events result in adverse consequences within an organization, it is usually not because the change itself was bad, but because the process of transitioning employees from the old way to the new way was poorly managed. Organizations can sidestep the negative effects of a planned change event by developing a proactive action plan for leading the organization through the transition. The Leading Through Transitions Program is designed to provide key leaders with such an action plan by educating them about the transition process and empowering them with skills to successfully address anticipated employee concerns and needs during significant organizational change.
